National Lineman Appreciation Day

Washington County, VA; April 15, 2024 – BVU Authority is proud to celebrate National Lineman Appreciation Day, honoring the dedicated teams who work tirelessly to keep our communities powered.

National Lineman Appreciation Day, observed annually on April 18th, serves as an opportunity to recognize the invaluable contributions of lineworkers who brave all weather conditions and work tirelessly, often in challenging and hazardous environments, to ensure the reliability of our electrical infrastructure.

"At BVU Authority, we deeply appreciate the commitment and dedication of our lineman," said Don Bowman, President & CEO of BVU Authority. "Their unwavering dedication to providing safe and reliable electricity to our customers is evident in the consistent quality of service our customers have come to expect. On this special day, we extend our gratitude to them for their hard work and dedication."

In addition to recognizing their efforts, Lineman Appreciation Day offers an opportunity for communities to raise awareness about the importance of electrical safety and safe travel when crews are near traffic. BVU Authority encourages residents to show their appreciation for lineworkers by taking simple steps to ensure their safety, such as staying clear of downed power lines, practicing caution around electrical equipment, and obeying traffic signs and cones when crews are working on or near roadways.

"We are immensely proud of our lineworkers for their service to our community," said Bowman. "Their dedication and professionalism exemplify the core values of our organization, and we are grateful for their contributions to keeping our community safe and connected."

BVU Authority invites members of the community to join in honoring our lineworkers on this special day. Residents are encouraged to share messages of appreciation tagging BVU Authority on social media or by using the hashtag #ThankALineman.
